Eagles swept in season opener

(Monroeville, Ala.)- Host Alabama Southern Community College spoiled Meridian Community College’s opening baseball series with a sweep over the Eagles Thursday afternoon in Monroeville, Ala.

Alabama Southern defeated MCC 3-0 in game one and 5-2 in game two.

MCC’s Garrett Harris (0-1) gave up six hits with three strikeouts in six innings of work, in the first game. Jason Coats (0-1) of Meridian gave up nine hits in game two for MCC.

At the plate, Josh Demoney and Jarrod Parks each had a single which tallied up for MCC’s two hits in game one.

In game two, Parks and Scott Moseley each resisted an RBI single for Meridian's two runs.

MCC (0-2) will be in action Saturday in Birmingham when they face Lawson State.
