With the opening of junior college baseball season less than a week to go, preseason accolades continue to roll in for the Meridian Community College Eagles.
The Eagles, preparing for their third season under head coach Chris Rose, enter the season ranked at No. 9 in the NJCAA’s preseason Division II poll.
On the heels of a 41-15 season a year ago, the Eagles will open this season Thursday at Alabama Southern in Thomasville with a top ten ranking to tow.
Longview (Mo.) Community College will begin this season at the top of the Division II poll, followed by LSU-Eunice at No. 2 and Mesa (Az.) CC at No. 3.
Meridian stands as one of two state schools in the preseason poll. The Eagles are joined by No. 18 MS Gulf Coast.
