MCC splits with Gulf Coast
One game after scoring a team-high 31 points, Meridian Community College sophomore NaDosha Strickland continued her torrid shooting, establishing a new career-high with 41 points in leading the Lady Eagles to an 81-71 win at Mississippi Gulf Coast Monday night.
Behind Strickland, Meridian turned a 39-39 halftime tie into a 10-point win.
With the win, MCC improved to 15-3 overall and 5-2 in division play to keep pace with East Central (6-1) who is in first place.
After owning a 42-38 halftime lead, Meridian’s Eagles were unable to keep up with home standing MGCCC who roared back to claim a 2-point win.
Sophomore Regis Huddleston scored a game-high 33 points to lead the Eagles while TC Franklin countered with 26 points for Gulf Coast.
The Eagles fell to 10-8 overall and 4-3 in division play.
MCC will remain on the road Thursday night, traveling to take on Hinds in another South Division doubleheader.
