MCC prepares to host Co-Lin for Homecoming 2008

The Meridian Community College basketball teams will play host to South Division nemesis Copiah-Lincoln Community College tonight for Homecoming 2008.

The women’s game tips off at 6 p.m. while the men play at 8 p.m. Homecoming festivities will include the crowning of Homecoming Queen at halftime of the men’s ballgame.

The Lady Wolves of Co-Lin have owned MCC the past four meetings, winning all of them- including last season’s dramatic NJCAA Region 23 championship game in Clinton, MS.

The Lady Eagles have won seven of their last eight games coming into tonight’s showdown with the Lady Wolves. MCC’s lone loss in that winning streak was an 81-68 setback at Co-Lin.

MCC currently sits atop the South Division standings with an 8-2 record while Co-Lin is tied for third with a 6-4 record.

After winning five of their last six ballgames, Meridian’s men find themselves in a tie for second place in the South Division heading into Monday nights contest with divisional leader- Co-Lin.

MCC enters the game trying to avenge a 79-76 loss earlier in the season to the Wolves.

Co-Lin is 9-1 in the division while MCC is 7-3.

Broadcast of the game can be found on WMER 1390 AM and Comcast Cable Channel 12.
