Eagles & Lady Eagles look to keep their streaks alive against Pearl River on Valentines Day

The Meridian Community College basketball teams will travel to South Division foe Pearl River Community College Thursday.

The women’s game tips off at 5 p.m. while the men play at 7 p.m.

The Lady Eagles have won seven straight games in the MACJC South Division which places them atop the division with a 9-2 record. MCC is seeking its 20th win overall, they will enter Thursday nights game with a 19-3 mark and carry a No. 20 national ranking into the contest.

The Pearl River Lady Wildcats are 16-6 (7-4) and currently third in the South Division.

The Eagles have a streak of their own after defeating division leader Copiah-Lincoln Monday night. MCC has won four straight ballgames and six of their last seven to push them all the way to second place in the MACJC South Division, just one game back of Co-Lin.

MCC is 14-8 (8-3), while Pearl River is 14-8 (7-4).

Meridian swept Pearl River in a pair of games back on January 21, with the Lady Eagles winning 86-69 and the Eagles winning 68-63.

MCC will remain on the road next Monday when they travel to Southwest Mississippi before returning home to host Mississippi Gulf Coast for “Sophomore Night” in the Graham Gymnasium.
