MCC basketball ready to tip-off '07-'08 season
(MERIDIAN) - The Meridian Community College basketball teams are set to begin their 2007-2008 season this Saturday in the Graham Gymnasium. The Eagles' open up a 25-game season slate with a home contest versus Delgado (LA) Community College.
The Delgado game will begin a three game home stand for the Eagles as MCC will host Wallace-Selma (AL) Community College on Wednesday, Nov 7th and Marion (AL) Military Institute on Saturday, Nov 10th following their season opener on Nov 3rd.
Head Coach George Books and his men’s squad will take on an entirely new look this season as MCC will boast 11 new players (10 freshman, 1 sophomore transfer).
Meanwhile, for the women’s team, Coach Hilary Allen will return three key members from last year’s squad that made it all the way to the NJCAA Region 23 championship game. The Lady Eagles will be headlined by returning All-Region 23 sophomore NaDasha Strickland, along with fellow sophomores Jennifer Wair and Zerconia Hopkins from last year's 17-11 squad.
Last year the Lady Eagles defeated Delgado 73-52, the men’s team did not play.
The Lady Eagles take to the court at 3:00 PM Saturday, while the men follow at 5:00 PM.
