Lady Eagles prepare to host Region Championship
(Meridian) - Following the programs first ever MACJC State Championship, the Meridian Community College Lady Eagle soccer team is preparing to host the NJCAA Region 23 women’s soccer tournament this weekend.
The Region 23 women’s soccer tournament will feature four teams from Louisiana and Mississippi. The tournament gets underway Friday at 4:00 p.m. when Mississippi Gulf Coast takes on Bossier-Parrish out of Louisiana in the tournaments first match.
The Lady Eagles of Meridian will take to the field at 6:00 p.m. when they face Hinds Community College.
“I would like to invite everyone who can to come out and join us,” said head coach Alex George.
“This is a big step for the girls and our program.”
The two teams that advance from Friday will play at 2:00 p.m. Saturday for the Region 23 championship.
Region winner will advance one step closer to the NJCAA national championship tournament when they play in the District Championship.
If MCC wins the Region they will host District next Saturday.
