MCC Golf in action at Indian Bayou Classic in Destin, FL


(DESTIN, FL.) – The Meridian Community College golf team returns to competition Monday, at the Indian Bayou Colligate Classic at hosted by the University of North Alabama. The 36-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.

The Eagles are coming off a three consecutive top-three team finishes at the NW Shoals Invitational (3rd), the J.A. Logan Invitational (3rd) and the MCC/Rush Fall Invitational (2nd).

MCC’s line up for the event feature sophomores Joshua Ivy and Bryant Self along with freshmen Clay Bounds, Joe Konieczny and Jarrod Moulds.

This will mark the Eagle’s fist appearance in the Destin, FL event.

Indian Bayou Golf Course plays to a par-72 and spans over 7,078 yards.

“Our guys are excited about playing yet another outstanding course,” Covich said.

“This is an opportunity for our guys to gain experience and compete against some major university programs.”

The field will include 17 different teams, including 15 NCAA four-year schools such as UNA, West Georgia, Delta State, Columbus State and others. MCC and J.A. Logan College of Illinois are the two NJCAA teams competing in the event.
