MCC Men's Basketball 2007-08 schedule set
MERIDIAN - The Meridian Community College men's basketball schedule was announced this week by MCC Athletic Director, Hilary Allen. The Eagles' 25-game slate will be highlighted by 14 MACJC South Division contests, including the homecoming date slated for February 11 v. Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
MCC was 3-1 versus their local rivals (East Central and East Mississippi) last season, but struggled to a 4-10 division record.
The Eagles open up their season with a three game homestand versus Delgado (LA) Community College (Nov. 3), Wallace-Selma (Nov 7), and Marion (AL) Military Institute (Nov. 10).
Head Coach George Books and his squad will then make their first road trip of the season to face rival East Mississippi Community College on Nov. 12, before returning home to host Coahoma Community College on Nov. 17.
The Eagles will then play five of their next six ballgames on the road, vs. Marion Military Institute (Nov. 20), Wallace-Selma (Nov. 30), Delgado (Dec. 4), Coahoma (Dec. 8), and Volunteer (TN) State (Jan. 3). The lone home game in that stretch will come Nov. 12 against East Mississippi.
The 14-game MACJC South Division regular-season slate will continue begin with a home game v. Hinds Community College on Jan. 7. The division slate will continue with a Jan. 10 road contest against East Central Community College followed by a stretch of 12 consecutive league contests for MCC.
The MACJC State Tournament is scheduled for Feb. 25-28, with the Region 23 Tournament on March 4-7. The Region 23 champion will advance to the NJCAA National Championship on March 18-22 in Hutchinson, KS.
