Eagle golfers in action at pro tour event


(MERIDIAN) – Five Meridian Community College golf team members experienced the thrill of a lifetime when they teed it up in the 2007 Adams Pro Series Tour Community Bank Golf Classic this week at historic Northwood County Club in Meridian, MS.

Among Eagle goflers, MCC freshman Jarrod Moulds had the best 36-hole total of 144 (70-74), 2-over par, which was highlighted by an opening round of 1-under par, 70.

Fellow Eagle freshman Joseph Konieczny fired one of the lower rounds in the event with a bogey free, 4-under par 67 on day two. He finished with a total of 148 (81-67), 6-over par.

MCC sophomore Bryant Self played steady shooting a total of 148 (74-74), 6-over par.

Eagle sophomore Joshua Ivy shot 149 (72-77), 7-over par; while freshman Clay Bounds fired 152 (73-79), 10-over par.

The Adams Golf Pro Tour Series, the so-called 'Triple A' of professional golf, is a developmental series on par with the Hooters Tour and a step below the Nationwide Tour, which the PGA Tour owns.

There are about 50 alums of the Adams Golf tour who are currently on the PGA Tour and another 75 alums that are on the Nationwide Tour.

The Adams Tour plays 12 tournaments a year, mostly in small to medium sized towns such as Texarkana, Texas, Houma, La. and Gulfport.

The top 33 scores plus ties will advance to play in the final two rounds on Friday and Saturday.

MCC’s next official college tournament will be on October 22-23 in Destin, FL at the Indian Bayou Colligate Classic.
