MCC Golf claims top 5, Moulds All Tournament in Destin, FL
(Destin, Fla.) - The Meridian Community College golf team finished the Indian Bayou Collegiate Classic in a tie for 5th place with a team score of 302.
The University of North Alabama-hosted event featured 17 collegiate golf teams of which 15 were four-year NCAA teams. MCC and J.A. Logan College were the two NJCAA teams invited.
The Eagles were led by freshman Jarrod Moulds who fired a 1-under par round of 71.
Moulds, a former Lamar School standout, finished tied for 4th out of 85 golfers. He was named to his first career all-tournament team.
MCC sophomore Joshua Ivy used a rare double eagle (2) on the par five finishing hole to shoot a 3-over par 75.
MCC freshman Joe Konieczny and sophomore Bryant Self both shot rounds of 6-over par 78.
MCC freshman Clay Bounds shot 8-over par 80.
For the second consecutive year, Columbus State (GA) University won the event with a team score of 293. Arkansas Tech University claimed team runner-up with a 295.
Patrick Wilson of Lander University was medalist with a 3-under par, 69.
The Eagles will return to action November 5-6 at the University of Mobile Fall Classic played at Azalea City Golf Course in Mobile, AL.
