MCC Baseball Splits Road Set Against Coastal Alabama

The Meridian Community College baseball team returned to
the diamond on Saturday by making a trip to MGM Park in Biloxi to take on
Coastal Alabama (Jeff Davis). The Eagles split the twin bill against the
WarHawks by falling in Game One by a final of 2-1 and bouncing back to win Game
Two by a final of 8-5.
MCC is now 7-5 overall after the doubleheader split on
Saturday and will return to action on Tuesday afternoon at Scaggs Field against
Southwest Tennessee. The doubleheader between the two schools is set to begin
at 1 p.m.
The day started out by the Eagles falling in tough luck
fashion by a final of 2-1. Freshman Hunter Stanley took the tough loss on the
mound in Game One by pitching seven strong innings for the Eagles. The lone run
in Game One came on an RBI single from Garrett Busby who knocked in Blake
Fields who reached on a double in the fifth inning.
MCC bounced back in Game Two by defeating the Warhawks by
a final of 8-5. Zack Carter continued his great work at the plate in Game Two
with an RBI base hit, while Hunter Stanley drove in two runs on a pair of
sacrifices. Milton Smith also picked up an RBI single in Game Two and JD Gann
drove in a pair of runs on a base hit for the Eagles. Chase Coker and Luke
Craig each added an RBI single, while Garrett Busby picked up an RBI on a
ground out in the victory.
Matthew Harrison notched the pitching win out of the
bullpen for the Eagles, while Logan McDowell earned the save in the three-run
win.
