MCC Softball Grabs Dramatic Win

The 2017 Meridian Community College softball season got
started on Friday afternoon as the Lady Eagles were on the road at the Faulkner
State Tournament in Gulf Shores, AL. The Lady Eagles concluded play on Friday
with a dramatic 9-6 victory over Wallace-Dothan to grab its first victory of 2017.
The Lady Eagles opened the tournament by falling to
Jefferson Davis by a final of 1-0 and later dropped s decision to Central
Alabama 9-2, but the third game of the day would be much different for MCC.
Courtney Moore broke a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning on a three-run
homer and gave the Lady Eagles a 9-6 win over Wallace-Dothan. Moore finished
the game by driving in five runs on three total hits.
Brianna Duquette and KeeLee Ladnier each finished with
two hits apiece, and both players each drove in one run. Anna Lloyd helped the
MCC cause by scoring a pair of runs and finished with one single. Kandler Flora
also had a solid game for the Lady Eagles in the victory with a pair of
singles.
Tiana Boutte picked up her first pitching win of the
season by working the full seven innings and allowing three earned runs.
MCC will return to action on Tuesday with a road
doubleheader at Shelton State Community College beginning at 1 p.m.
