MCC Basketball Splits Road Set at Gulf Coast

The Meridian Community College basketball squads returned
to the court on Monday night by taking a road trip to Mississippi Gulf Coast
for another pair of MACJC South Division games. MCC would come away with a
split as the Lady Eagles came away with a 73-63 victory over Gulf Coast, while
the MCC men fell to the Bulldogs by a final of 81-71.
The MCC women improved to 9-11 overall and 3-9 in
conference action, while the MCC men dropped to 2-17 overall and 0-11 in
conference action. The two teams will return to action Thursday night with a
road trip to Hinds Community College for another pair of conference games. The
MCC women will take on Hinds at 5:30 and the MCC men will play the Hinds men at
7:30.
The Lady Eagles snapped its six-game losing streak on
Monday night by defeating Gulf Coast by a final of 73-63. Former Meridian High
star Kashari Gordon had a team-high 23 points in the road victory for the Lady
Eagles, while Rashonae Rice followed with 15 points. Freshman Mary Maxwell
continued her solid play this season and finished the game with 10 points.
The MCC men couldn't reverse its struggles this season
and dropped its scheduled game to Gulf Coast by a final of 81-71. The Eagles fell into a 23-6 hole early on in
the first half and couldn't rebound in the loss.
