MCC Tennis Grabs Conference Victories Over ECCC

The Meridian Community College tennis teams took dual wins from East Central Community College in matches at Northeast Park on Monday afternoon. Meridian’s men took a solid 8-1 win with their only loss occurring at number two doubles.
Callan Shinall and Breno Goncalves fell to Will Stewart and John Jiminez 6-8. In other doubles matches, Will Swindoll/Jason Pimenta took a solid win over Tom Langaleer/Joseph Jabour 8-2.
At number three doubles, Noah James/John Taylor Champion took the win 8-3 over Graham Murphree and Brandon Rodgers. In singles action, Meridian cleared the courts with wins at all six singles. Pimenta defeated Langeleer 0,2; Breno Goncalves took the win over John Jiminez 1, 3.
At three singles, Will Swindoll took the win over Jospeh Jabour 7-5, 6-2. At four singles, Noah James won a tough match against Will Stewart 6-4, 7-6(6).
Meridian’s Callan Shinall breezed to a victory over Brandon Rogers 3, 1. Will Irvin for Meridian finished out the scoring to win over William Wooten 2,2. John Taylor Champion and Nathan Hollis picked up wins in their matches. Federico Hourdebaigt lost 6-8.
In women’s action, Meridian won
the match 8-1 with a loss at one doubles. Jordyn
Hull/Shelby Zachry took a 3-8 loss to Tatiana Quinonez/Julia
Johnston.
At two doubles, Rachel Sollie/Taylor Miller defeated Chaney Mills/Andi McCrimon 8-5. At three doubles, Micah Gray/Kyra Holway defeated An Duong/Samantha McCrimon 8-3. Meridian’s number one doubles duo of Shelby Zachry and Jordyn Hull redeemed their doubles loss by taking wins at number one and two singles.
Zachry defeated Quinonez 1,
2; Hull won 6-2, 7-6(5) over Chaney Mills. At three singles,
Kyra Holway defeated Julia Johnston 1-6, 6-0, 11-9; Taylor Miller
took the win at four over Andi McCrimon 0,2. Rachel Sollie won
five singles over An Duong 2, 2.
At number six singles, Micah Gray defeated Emily Dykeman 2, 2. Katherine Mitchell won her match over Samantha McCrimon 0,0.
Meridian’s men are 2-1 on the
season and 1-0 in MACJC action; the women are 1-1
and 1-0 in MACJC action. Both teams return to action at Wallace State in
Hanceville, AL on Friday at 11:00 am.
