MCC Lady Eagles Fall to EMCC

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles squared off with
rival East Mississippi Community College on the basketball hardwood Thursday
night in the Graham Gymnasium looking to extend its current five-game winning
streak. The game between the two schools came right down to the wire and the
Lady Lions were able to escape with a 61-59 victory over MCC. The Lady Eagles
dropped its overall record to 7-3 after the two-point setback, while the Lady
Lions improved to 6-3 overall for the season. The MCC Lady Eagles will return
to action next Thursday night with a MACJC South Division road trip to Decatur
to play the Lady Warriors of East Central Community College beginning at 5:30
p.m. East Mississippi will return to the court next Tuesday with a home
doubleheader against East Central beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Freshman Qiayon Bailey led the Lady Eagles in scoring on
Thursday night with 15 points, while Andriel Moss scored nine points off the
bench for Meridian. Rokila Wallace chipped in with eight points in the loss,
while Halethe Jones finished the game with seven points. Ty Juhan led East
Mississippi in scoring with 21 points and Anissia May followed with 14 in the
winning effort for the Lady Lions.
