MCC Softball Sweeps Past Mississippi Delta

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles returned to
Tommy McDonald Field on Sunday afternoon and found tons of success against
Mississippi Delta Community College.
MCC scored a doubleheader sweep over the Lady Trojans by
final scores of 15-4 and 5-2. MCC improved to 7-13 overall with the sweep and
4-2 in conference action. MCC will return to action on Friday with a conference
doubleheader at home against Itawamba Community College beginning at 1 p.m.
MCC built a 9-0 lead after two innings of Game One and
cruised to a 15-4 win over Mississippi Delta. Keelee Ladnier led the way at the
plate with three hits and four RBI's, while Mia Johnson drove in a pair of runs
on a home run. Brianna Duquette had three hits and one RBI and Alex Riser drove
in a pair of runs on one base hit. Mycahla Howard also drove in two runs on two
hits, while Anna Lewis added an RBI single.
Payton Fox picked up the pitching win in Game One for the
Lady Eagles after working just over four innings.
MCC completed the sweep in Game Two by a final count of
5-2 and all due in part to another solid game by Mia Johnson who led the way
with a two-run homer.
Anna Lewis added a pair of base hits and Anna Lloyd also
collected a base hit.
Angel Thornton picked up the pitching win in Game Two for
the Lady Eagles by working just over five innings and notching four strikeouts.
