MCC Golf Captures MC Spring Invitational

The Meridian Community College golf team got its spring
season started with a bang on Tuesday afternoon by capturing the 2016
Mississippi College Spring Invitational Championship. MCC finished the
tournament with a three-round total of 865 (1-over par) which was 12 strokes
ahead of the University of West Alabama and William Carey University who both
tied for second overall in the field.
MCC sophomore Grant Renegar took home the top medalist
honors by finishing at the top of the field with a three-round total of 209
(7-under par) which was one stroke better than teammate Camden Backel who
finished second overall. Former Lamar star Lance Strickland finished 15th
overall with a three-round total of 220 (4-over par) and Colby Evans finished
tied for 23rd with a total score of 224 (8-over par). Clayton Gray ended the
week tied for 35th (14-over par) and Owen Patterson placed tied for
45th (18-over par).
MCC golf will return to action on March 28-29 with a road
trip to Foley, AL to compete in the Glenlakes Collegiate Invitational at
Glenlakes Golf Course.
