MCC Basketball Splits Road Set At JCJC

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles entered this
week with a difficult task of taking on two of the top teams inside of the
MACJC South Division. The first test for the Lady Eagles came Tuesday night
with a road match-up against Jones County Junior College which entered play tied
with MCC for second place in the South Division standings.
The Lady Eagles came away with one of its most impressive
road victories of the 2014-2015 season Tuesday night with an 85-79 win over the
Lady Bobcats. MCC improved to 11-4 overall and 4-1 in division play, while
Jones fell to 9-4 and 3-2 inside the South division.
Sophomore Londyn Thomas had one of her best games of the
season for MCC by scoring a game-high 32 points, while Miaya Crowder finished
with 17 points.
The win by MCC sets up a huge match-up Thursday night
against Co-Lin who currently holds the top spot inside the MACJC South
Division. The Lady Wolves moved its record to 14-0 overall and 5-0 in league
play after defeating Southwest Mississippi 77-55 Tuesday evening. The game is
set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday night inside the Graham Gymnasium at Jim
Redgate Court.
The Lady Bobcats will look to rebound Thursday night with
a road trip to Southwest Mississippi that begins at 5:30 p.m.
The MCC men couldn't complete the sweep and lost to the
16th ranked Bobcats of Jones by a final score of 72-63. The Eagles dropped to
6-7 overall and 0-5 in league play, while Jones improved to 12-0 and 5-0 in
divisional play.
The Eagles will return to action Thursday night at home
against Co-Lin at 7:30, while Jones will travel to Southwest Mississippi
Thursday evening.
