MCC Signs Top Player From Mississippi

From School Reports

One of Mississippi's top high school golfers signed Monday to continue his playing career at Meridian Community College. Chase Taylor, from Columbus, MS, becomes the first piece of MCC's 2012 signing class and will join the top ranked Eagles in the fall of 2012. As a junior, Taylor led New Hope High School to the class 5A State Championship. He was named All-District and All-State for his efforts on the links. During an impressive summer of 2011, Taylor qualified for the 64th United States Junior Amateur Championship held in Bremerton, Washington. He also finished 3rd at the Mississippi Junior Amateur Championship and made the cut at the Mississippi Men's Amateur Championship. He also qualified for the prestigious Optimist International Junior Golf Tournament in West Palm Beach, Florida on two separate occasions, as well as the Big I Boys Junior Championships, both international tournaments.

"What a great day for MCC golf," said Clinton Hales, MCC Head Coach. "We're extremely proud Chase has decided to join our program for the next two years. Having a player of Chase's caliber will only help us to continue to compete for our District and National Championships at the division 1 level of junior college golf. Not only is Chase a great young golfer with a world of potential, but he's also a great young man from a great family. He's also a Mississippi kid, so, we are extremely glad to have him come be a part of program.
