MCC Basketball Splits With Southern Shreveport

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles opened Miss-Lou Conference play by taking a 64-55 road victory over Southern Shreveport on Saturday afternoon. Norianna Haynes led the Lady Eagles with 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Chasity Kearney finished the game with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Gelese Lampton ended the game in double figures with 10 points.

MCC (9-9, 1-0) will return to action this Wednesday on the road at Delgado Community College. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

The MCC men dropped its first Miss-Lou Conference game of the season by seven points on Saturday to the Jaguars. Gio Smith led the Eagles with a game-high 18 points and Kevin Williams finished the game with 11 points. Dominic Griffin was able to reach double figures in the loss for MCC with 10 points.

Meridian (5-14, 0-1) will return to action this Wednesday on the road at Delgado Community College. The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
