Meridian hosted a doubleheader against rival JCJC Thursday, falling short 9-1 in the opener and 6-4 in the second game.
In the first game, Jones' batters dominated early earning four runs in the first inning and one in the second. The Bobcats then capped their win with four additional runs in the seventh. MCC's only run for the game came in the second inning.
Hitting for JCJC, Lauren Lewis and Kasey McCann contributed two hits. Natalie Packer hit a triple, double and single for the Lady Eagles. Shanese Hunter added a double.
In game two, MCC showed promise as they led by three runs until the fifth inning. The Lady Bobcats' bats came alive and answered with six runs to secure the game.
Sam Comer, Monica Shoemake and Lauren Lewis had multiple hits for JCJC with two hits each. C.C. Roberts contributed a triple, double and single. Packer added three hits.
Jones improved to 19-13 for the season.
