MCC, Moulds make a clean sweep at Kirkwood National
(HOLLY SPRINGS) - The Meridian Community College golf team captured their first tournament victory of the season by posting consecutive team scores of 313 at Kirkwood National Golf Club to beat rival Mississippi Gulf Coast in a playoff on Tuesday. The win is the tenth for MCC under second year head coach Sean Covich.
"This was probably the worst weather conditions we've seen all year," said Covich about the rainy weather that plagued most of Mississippi on Tuesday.
"Both Jarrod's (Lemaster and Moulds) played really well today, it just feels good to finally win again- it’s been 12 months since our last victory (2007 State/Region)."
MCC's Jarrod Moulds won the medalist title with a 2-over par 146. Moulds shot a final round low even par, 72 to beat NW Mississippi's T. Robert Oakley by one stroke.
MCC's Joe Konieczny and Jarrod Lemaster made the All Tournament Team. Konieczny fired rounds of 77-73 to earn his fourth All Tournament Team of the year. Lemaster shot 79-74 to make it.
Other MCC scores included: Michael Burton 165 (80-85), Bryant Self 166 (82-83) and Curt Sparks 167 (82-85).
Meridian tees it up again in the MACJC Event #4 at Wolf Hollow GC on April 13-14.
