MCC soccer standout inks with Troy University

Meridian Community College Lady Eagle soccer standout Mckenzie Butler will continue her collegiate career at Troy University in the fall of 2008.

Butler has been nationally ranked in the Junior College scoring polls throughout here career at MCC. This season she was named to the All Region 23 team and had the honor of being selected as the NJCAA’s National Player of the Week.

Butler led the Lady Eagles on their journey to the program’s first ever MACJC State Championship.

“None of this would have been possible without the help I’ve had from my coaches here at M.C.C. I came here as a good soccer player but I’m leaving as a great athlete and with a greater love and respect for the game thanks to the coaches who have inspired me,” said Butler.

Mckenzie will graduate from M.C.C. in May and continue her studies as a Secondary Education Major.

“I wouldn’t know where to begin with Mckenzie,” said MCC head coach Alex George.

“She and I are so much alike in that we both hate to lose and are highly competitive. She is one of the best Offensive players to come through this league and should be very productive in her future endeavors at Troy,” added George.
