MCC Soccer Announces 2015 Signing Class
From School Reports
The Meridian Community College women’s soccer program
announced its 2015 signing class on Tuesday afternoon that consists of some of
the best players from all over the state of Mississippi.
“I am very pleased with this signing class,” said MCC head
coach Mike Smith. “It is definitely my best as a head coach here at Meridian
Community College. I expect us to be a much faster team than we were last year,
and a more athletic team. I will have a lot of returning sophomores next year
that is one thing we didn’t have last year. We should have a lot more
leadership and experience this season.”
New Hope High School standout Effie Morrison highlights the
2015 signing class for the Lady Eagles. Morrison was named to the MHSAA
All-Star Game back in February and was also named to the Clarion Ledger’s
Honorable Mention All-State Team. Morrison will bring a spark to the lineup next
season for MCC after being one of the premiere offensive players in the state
of Mississippi.
Madison Drummond from Southaven High School will also look
to make an immediate impact in 2015 for the Lady Eagles. Drummond will bring a
speed element to the field next season and might be one of the most aggressive
players in the 2015 signing class for Coach Mike Smith. Warren Central High
School standout Kylee Burke also joins the 2015 signing class and will bring a
solid defensive game to the field. Burke will also bring speed and a strong leg
should prove to make a difference in big game situations in 2015.
Other great additions are Lafayette High School star Abbey
Pate who was a part of the Class 4A State Championship squad this past season,
while Caledonia High School standout Emily Brewer will also join the 2015
class. Brewer is mostly noted for her tough play on the field and her speed as
well.
MCC will also welcome some of the best local players to
campus next season as seven players from the Lauderdale County area will be a
part of the squad in 2015. Kedrianna Cole (Northeast Lauderdale), Abbie Pope
(West Lauderdale), Taylor Gray (West Lauderdale), Lacy Billings (West
Lauderdale), Jordyn Hull (West Lauderdale), Alisa Bullock (West Lauderdale), and
Claire Miller (Southeast Lauderdale) will stay close to home next season to
play for the Lady Eagles.
Other players that have signed to play at Meridian Community
College next season include: Jessica Hurley (Warren Central), Kayla Smith (New
Hope), Kira Morrell (Laurel), Reagan Evans (Laurel), and Nichole Keen
(Florence).
