MCC Basketball Opens Season With Sweep
From School Reports
The 2014-2015 Meridian Community College basketball season
opened up on a high note Monday night as the Eagles soared to a sweep over
Bishop State Community College at the Graham Gymnasium. The Lady Eagles fought
back from a nine-point second half deficit to run away with a 62-52 victory,
while the Eagles used a career performance from Brandon Daniels to complete the
sweep of the Wildcats by a final tally of 87-69.
MCC will return to action Thursday night with a doubleheader
on the road at East Mississippi Community College. The women will take to the
floor at 5:30 followed by the men’s game at 7:30.
The Lady Eagles were down by as much as nine points with 11
minutes remaining in the game, but a strong performance in the middle by Miaya
Crowder sealed the deal for the green and white. Crowder finished the game with
22 points and most her damage in the game came in the furious comeback by MCC.
Freshman Tytianna Hall made her MCC debut and scored 12 points, while Londyn
Thomas added eight points in the victory.
