MCC Golf Captures Lou Hart Invitational

The Meridian Community College golf team completed its first
championship victory of the fall season by winning the Lou Hart Invitational
Tournament by three strokes Tuesday afternoon at Northwood Country Club.
Meridian Community College golfer Ty Medling won his
first individual collegiate medalist and led the Eagles to the tournament
victory. The Eagles shot 294 and 292 for the two-day tournament over runner-up
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College by three strokes. Faulkner State
Community College came in third followed by East Mississippi Community College,
East Central Community College, and the MCC White squad.
Sophomore Ty Medling led the way with a one under 141 (72,
69) to win his first collegiate individual title. Connor Cavin, also a
sophomore, made the All-Tournament team by shooting a four over 146 (74, 72).
Austin Terrell finished with a 149 (74, 75), Grant Renegar shot 151 (75, 76)
and Clayton Gray shot 156 (74, 82) to round out the MCC Green team.
Meridian native Beau McMullen, playing for MCC White, had a
hole in one on number 17. Beau shot 78, 81 for the tournament. Other members of
the MCC White team were Luther Thompson ( 74, 80), Colby Evans (84, 77), Will
Zizmann ( 82, 82) and Aaron Ricks ( 88, 84).
The Eagles return to action at Goosepond Golf Course in
Scottsboro, Al on November 1-2.
