MCC Golf Opens 2014 Fall Season

The Meridian Community College golf team opened the 2014
fall season this week by finishing 7th at the Wallace State Invitational held
at the Cullman Golf Course in Cullman, AL.
The tournament featured several national powerhouse
teams, with six finishing last season in the top ten nationally in their
respective divisions.
Meridian finished the three round tournament shooting a four
over par 868. The Eagles were led by Austin Terrell who shot even par 216 (72,
75, 69) Connor Cavin ( 74, 71, 72) and Grant Renegar (70, 72, 75) were close
behind with 217 (one over par). Rounding out the Eagles play were Luther
Thompson II (71, 76, 75 - 222) and Clayton Gray (78, 75, 72 - 225).
Wallace State, last year’s national runner-up, won by
shooting a 43 under 821. Eastern Florida State finished second followed by
Darton College.
The MCC golf team will return to action on September 29-30
at the Belhaven College Blazer Invitational.
