MCC Baseball Falls In Rush Tournament

The Meridian Community College Eagles didn’t enjoy the opening day of the 2012 Rush Invitational Tournament. Jefferson College defeated MCC 17-3 in a run-rule shortened on Friday night at Scaggs Field. The Eagles dropped to 4-5 for the 2012 season and will return to action Saturday afternoon against Gulf Coast (FL) at 2 p.m.
The Eagles only managed four hits in the game and Wade Wass led the way with his fifth home run of the season for MCC. Tyler Dixon added an RBI single in the game for the Eagles. The MCC pitching staff surrendered 12 walks in the game and the Eagles committed four errors on defense. Jackson Lowery (1-2) took the pitching loss on the mound for Meridian. Lowery worked four innings and collected nine strikeouts.
Tyler Hibbert led the Vikings with three hits and Brett Wiley drove in four runs in the game for Jefferson College. The Vikings also defeated Gulf Coast (FL) in the first game of the tournament by a final score of 11-4.
