Lady Eagles take care of Delgado
(MERIDIAN) - The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles remained unbeaten in Miss-Lou Conference play with a 76-60 defeat over visiting Delgado Community College on Saturday in the Graham Gymnasium.
MCC got out to a big lead that they never relinquished, as the Lady Eagles jumped out to a 23-4 lead early in the first half.
Delgado tried to make it close at times, but the Lady Eagles were too much as MCC led at half 46-27.
Leading the way for MCC in scoring was freshman Chasity Kearney who scored 14 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Also earning a double-double was freshman Arnissa Galloway who scored 13 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Freshman Norianna Haynes had 12 points with 3 assists and 3 steals. Sophomore Bianaca Powell had 9 points and 10 assists.
Leading the way for Delgado was freshman Shaquinta James who scored a game-high 20 points.
With the win the Lady Eagles improved to 22-4 and 7-0 in conference play. MCC’s women have not lost a game since Jan. 8.
