MCC freshman, Easton Key, shoots 69
-Eagles in Third Place
(GULFPORT, Miss.)- Meridian Community College freshman golfer, Easton Key, shot a 3-under par 69 in round one of the Holiday Inn Invitational played at Windance Country Club on Monday in Gulfport.
Key trails only Central Alabama freshman, Christian Humber, who leads the field after a 6-under par opening round of 66.
The Eagles are in third place out of 17 teams, as they trail first day leader South Mountain (AZ) by nine strokes. The defending NJCAA Division II national champions out of Phoenix, AZ shot a 4-under par 288 and lead second place Central Alabama, who posted a 2-over par 290. MCC is in third place with 5-over par 293.
MCC was led by Key's 69 (-3), sophomore Brandt Garon and freshman Jake Stirling each shot 74 (+2). Freshman Alex Grannon shot 76 (+4) while sophomore Clemens Dvorak rounded out MCC's team scoring with a 77 (+5).
Sophomore Oscar Mariscal, competing as an individual, shot 73 (+1).
Final round concludes Tuesday at Windance Country Club.
