MCC basketball returns to action Saturday
(MERIDIAN) - The Meridian Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams return to action Saturday as MCC will take on Bishop State in the Graham Gymnasium.
The Lady Eagles (1-0) tip-off at 3:00 pm while the Eagles (1-0) tip-off at 5:00 pm.
Both teams are coming off convincing wins over Wallace-Selma back on Wednesday.
The Lady Eagles picked up where they left off, after another 20-plus win season in 2009-2010, Coach Hillary Allen and his MCC Lady Eagles defeated Selma 90-69.
Freshman Norianna Haynes, a Northeast Lauderdale product, gave the Lady Eagles a team-high 24 points- 19 in the second half- in her college debut, while Arnissa Galloway had 15 points and Tay Odneal dropped in 10.
The MCC men got the Jeff Walker Era started off in the right direction with a 20 point blowout of Wallace-Selma.
Sophomore Emmanuel Donald led the Eagles with 20 points, while Deangelo Pryor and Travis Friedman each went for 15. Lakin Ford added 13 points and former Newton High standout Rashad Robinson dropped in 10 in the win.
