Eagles in third at Spring Fling, final round Friday

(SCOTTSBORO, Ala.) - The Meridian Community College golf team shot a 293 (+5) team score during the second round of the 9th Annual Spring Fling College Classic at Goose Pond Golf Course on Friday afternoon in Scottsboro, AL.
The Eagles are even-par as a team after 36 holes, MCC shot a 283 (-5) on Thursday to open up the event.
"We lost a little ground today, but still played solid golf," said MCC coach Sean Covich.
"It will take our best effort tomorrow, but being even par after two rounds is always a good thing."
Central Alabama leads the field at 9-under par, Darton College is 2-under par in second place, while Meridian is even-par in third. Walters State is 3-over in fourth while Wallace State rounds out the top five at 5-over.
123 players representing 21 teams are participating in the three day, 54-hole event.
Freshman Adam Monsen led the way for MCC Friday with a team low, 72 (E). Brandt Garon and Garrett Westbrook each posted rounds of 73 (+1) for MCC. Cory Williamson of Collins, MS shot a 75 (+3), while Clemens Dvorak had a 76 (+4).
MCC will be paired with Central Alabama, Darton and Walters State tomorrow for the final 18 holes begining at 8 am.
