Battle of Highway 45 set: Meridian vs Scooba

(MERIDIAN) – The Meridian Community College basketball teams return to action Wednesday night when they play host to rival-East Mississippi Community College.

The women’s game is set to tip off at 6 p.m. while the men will get underway at 8 p.m.

The Lady Eagles enter the contest 11-1, riding a 10 game winning streak, which includes a 64-53 victory against their Highway 45 nemesis back in November.

In the last NJCAA Women’s Basketball Top 25 poll, the Lady Eagles were ranked #24 and have won three games since that last poll was released (Dec. 9).

The Lady Lions boast a record of 7-5 on the year, but are coming off an impressive 63-55 road win at Shelton State.

Meanwhile, the rolls are reversed in the men’s game as EMCC enters the contest versus the Eagles ranked in the NJCAA Men’s Basketball Top 30 poll and the Lions sport a record of 11-2.

The Eagles will enter start the second half of the schedule with a 5-9 mark. MCC lost at Scooba, 82-65 versus EMCC back in November.
