Former MCC basketball player helps ULM upset Iowa
Earlier this week, Jordan Payne, a former standout basketball player at Meridian Community College and current senior guard for the University of Louisiana- Monroe Warhawks, scored 10 points in ULM’s upset victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Payne also reached a milestone as he scored his 500th career point for his career at ULM against Iowa in only his 39th career game. Earlier in the season he Connected on a season-high seven 3-point field goals at No. 12 Michigan State to lead the Warhawks with 26 points while coming off the bench.
Payne finished as the Warhawks second leading scorer in 2006-07 after being used primarily as the first substitution. He made his four career starts in the final four games of the season for ULM and averaged 14.0 points per game. He scored in double-figures in 20 games as a junior, including six games of 20 or more points. Last season he made 60 3-point shots, the 10th-highest single-season total in ULM history.
Payne averaged 25 points per game and five assist his final season at MCC and was selected to play in the MACJC All Star game.

ULM is now 5-4 on the season and will play at Nicholls State on December 11.
