MHS Lady Wildcat Standout inks with MCC

04/20/2007

MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Meridian Community College women’s basketball coach Hilary Allen added another member of the 2007 incoming freshman class. Tiara Parker of Meridian High School has signed a national letter-of-intent to play at MCC.

Parker will play in front of the home crowd as she prepped at MHS. The left-handed shooting, 5-6 guard has had a fantastic high school career, having played in three straight State Tournaments in the highest division for Mississippi High School basketball. In 2004-05 Parker led the MHS Lady Wildcats to the MHSAA 5A Championship game in Jackson. Then again in 2005-06 she led MHS to the MHSAA 5A Championship game. In 2006 – 2007, she led MHS to the MHSAA 5A South State championship and back to the State Tournament.

Parker averaged 18.5 points per game, 7.1 assists per game, 4.3 rebounds per game and 4.1 steals per game during her senior year. She led her team to a 25 – 7 record during her senior season. She compiled an 85 – 18 record during the last three years of high school.

Most recently, Parker was named a Mississippi-Alabama Prep All Star and competed in the MS-AL All Star Game. She is also a member of the All South State Team.

Her brother, Tony Parker played basketball for the MCC men’s team.

Coach Allen is extremely pleased to add another Mississippi-Alabama All-Star to the squad. “Tiara has the speed to play in our up-tempo brand of basketball. She is fantastic shooter with a soft touch.”
