Eagles defeat Delgado
Meridian Community College men’s basketball team received a lot of good news on Saturday. The Eagles learned that Delgado Community College, their opponent for the day, had to forfeit a previous win over MCC then word came that Southern-Shreveport lost their game which meant a win by Meridian on Saturday would propel the Eagles into first place of the Miss-Lou Conference standings.
Behind a strong performance from sophomore Emmanuel Donald, who scored 17 points, the Eagles recorded a 93-83 home victory over Delgado. MCC led 45-22 at halftime.
Deangelo Priar, Emery Kelly, and Edrico McGregor each scored 13 points for the Eagles, as Travis Fredimon added 11 points for MCC.
Renard Smith scored a game-high of 27 points for Delgado.
With the victory MCC improves to 17-9 (5-2). The Eagles will travel to Baton Rouge on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m.
