MCC Softball Sweeps Past Hinds

The Meridian Community College softball team returned to
action on Wednesday afternoon by playing its first MACJC games of the 2017
regular season against Hinds Community College at Tommy McDonald Field.
The Lady Eagles made the most of its first conference
games of the season by sweeping past Hinds by final scores of 5-4 and 2-1. MCC
is now 7-4 overall after the conference sweep on Wednesday against Hinds.
MCC will return to action on Friday at Tommy McDonald
Field in another pair of key MACJC games by playing host to Co-Lin. The twin
bill between the two schools is set to begin on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.
The Lady Eagles got the day started on Tuesday by taking
a 5-4 victory over Hinds in Game One. MCC clawed back from a 4-1 deficit to
take the one-run victory over the visiting Lady Eagles. Brianna Duquette led
MCC at the plate in Game One by driving in two runs on a home run, while Anna
Lloyd drove in one run on three base hits. Mycahla Howard also had a pair of
hits and one RBI and Jayla Poindexter collected an RBI on one hit for MCC in
Game One.
Tiana Boutte picked up the pitching win in Game One for
MCC by tossing a complete game and notching three strikeouts.
MCC finished off the sweep of Hinds behind a stellar
pitching performance in a 2-1 victory. Mackenzie Harvey picked up the win by
tossing four innings in the start and Kaylie Delapaz earned the save by throwing
the three scoreless innings.
Mycahla Howard drove in one run for MCC in Game Two on a
single and Anna Lloyd scored one run on a base hit in the win.
