MCC Basketball Sweeps Southern Shreveport

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles clinched its eighth straight Miss-Lou Conference championship on Saturday night by defeating Southern Shreveport 93-77. The game was played at Mississippi College and this marks the sixth regular season championship for MCC under the direction of head coach Hilary Allen. The Lady Eagles improved to 15-10 overall for the season and will return to action Monday night on the road at Hinds. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
Chasity Kearney led the way for MCC with 32 points and Norianna Haynes had a huge scoring night with 29 points in the victory.

The Eagles completed the sweep of the Jaguars by taking the four-point victory. MCC moved to within one game of first place in the Miss-Lou Conference standings. The Eagles have two more regular season games remaining in Miss-Lou Conference play to try and secure the regular season championship. Gio Smith led MCC in scoring with 15 points.
The Eagles will return to action Monday on the road at Hinds. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
