Eagles fall at Shelton State
Shelton State 5
Meridian 4
A costly error in the bottom of the ninth inning sent the Meridian Community College baseball team to its second straight loss Tuesday afternoon on the road at Shelton State.
The Eagles entered the ninth tied up at four with Shelton State. However, Shelton was able to get a runner in scoring position and an errant throw on a steal attempt from the catcher over the third baseman's head led to the winning run.
MCC, now 8-3, got three singles from former West Lauderdale standout Darren Farmer, while Meridian High product Kenny Roberts had a double and Nolan Thomas had an RBI single.
Meridian will kickoff a four-game series with No. 24 Jefferson College beginning Friday at Scaggs Field.
