MCC Women’s Basketball Player Inks with Tougaloo, Lady Eagles also add two
Meridian Community College sophomore Johanna Hirmke of Bamberg, Germany singed a national letter of intent to play for Tougaloo College on Wednesday afternoon.
Hirmke, a guard for MCC the past two seasons played for Coach Hilary Allen and carried a 3.3 GPA during her two seasons at MCC.
“Jo Jo, as call her, possesses great fundamentals of the game,” said Allen.
“She is a hard worker in the classroom and on the court. We could not be prouder of here to continue her athletic career and education at Tougaloo.”
Hirmke will play for Tougaloo head coach, Lee Payton starting in the fall of 2009.
Meridian Community College women’s basketball coach, Hilary Allen, was busy on Wednesday signing two recruits from Starkville High School.
Kierra Jones and Tay Odneal of Starkville both signed to play basketball for the Lady Eagles next season.
Jones averaged 18 points per game for SHS and was part of the Lady Jackets District 5A Championship team. Jones was selected to participate in the 2009 Mississippi-Alabama All Star Game.
Odneal averaged 12 points per game and was also on the Lady Jackets District title team.
“I’m very excited to have two fine players coming from a winning program like Starkville High School,” said Allen.
