MCC’s season opener canceled

Meridian Community College's 2009 baseball season-opener has been canceled according to MCC head coach Chris Rose.

The Eagles were slated to take on Bossier (La.) Parish Sunday at MCC's Scaggs Field in a 1 p.m. doubleheader. But Rose said Bossier was forced to cut travel by the school's administration and the games have been canceled.

Meridian will now open its season Feb. 4 at Jones County Junior College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. in Ellisville.

A four-game trip to Fort Walton, Fla., and Monroeville, Ala., follows. The Eagles' home-opener is now slated for Feb. 13, when MCC hosts Southeastern Illinois and Wabash in a split doubleheader beginning at noon.
