MCC Lady Eagles soccer wins thriller
(Tuscaloosa, AL) - Lady Eagles freshman Christina Murray scored a goal with 2.7 seconds left in regulation to break a 3-3 tie between Shelton State and Meridian Community College Thursday afternoon as MCC picked up their second win in as many games to start the season 2-0.
Ironically, Shelton State led virtually the entire game. At half, the Lady Eagles were down 2-1, with the lone first half goal coming from Murray. Shelton State extended their lead 3-1 in the second half but then MCC turned the tide scoring 3 straight goals to come from behind to win 4-3.
In addition to Murray's two scores, Mary Beth Weber and Taylor George each scored a goal for MCC.
The Lady Eagles (2-0) were slated to host Andrew College Tuesday afternoon at CD Smith Field on the MCC campus however, Andrew forfieted that contest to make MCC (3-0) on the season.
