Payton Gardner suffered the hard-luck loss Tuesday, allowing five runs, but only one earned, in five innings. He struck out seven and walked one.

The Eagles, who fell to 19-11, committed five errors in the game as Faulkner plated just three earned runs.

Jonathan Pace hit a solo home run in the fifth for MCC, which got its other run after Darren Farmer reached after a strike out on a passed ball. The former West Lauderdale star then scored on an Avi Ahlzadeh single.

Meridian travels to Alabama Southern on Monday.
