MCC golf heads to Rock Creek
The Meridian Community College Eagle golf team returns to competition on Monday, March 1 in the Faulkner State Invitational in Fairhope, AL. The 36-hole event will continue thru Tuesday at the Rock Creek Golf Club in Fairhope, Ala., which plays to a par 72 at over 6,900 yards.
The Eagles are coming off a runner-up finish at the Wynlakes Wynter Nationals last week in Montgomery, Ala.
MCC head coach Sean Covich will start freshman Brandt Garon in the No. 1 spot. Garon earned his third all tournament team honor last week at Wynlakes with rounds of 74-72. He leads the team in both tournament scoring average and rounds under par. Freshman Clemens Dvorak will play in the No.2 spot. Returning NJCAA All American, Garrett Westbrook, will play in the No. 3 spot and Cory Williamson of Collins, Mississippi will play in the No. 4 spot. Freshman Adam Monsen will round out the Eagles lineup in the No.5 spot.
Tee times begin both days at 9:00 AM. Nine teams are set to compete in the event: host Faulkner State, Wallace State-Hanceville, Central Alabama, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Spring Hill, Brevard, University of Mobile, Faulkner University and MCC. First place and second place teams will be awarded along with individual medalist honors and five all tournament team awards.
