Konieczny inks with MCC Golf
(MERIDIAN)- Meridian Community College golf coach, Sean Covich, added the final member of his 2007 recruiting class as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Joe Konieczny (pronounced Kon-etz-nee) is a transfer student from Mississippi State University and will be apart of the 2007-08 MCC golf program. Originally from Marietta, GA, Konieczny transferred from MSU where he was enrolled as a student but was not a member of the MSU golf team.
Konieczny has been playing amateur golf since a junior in Marietta, GA. then he moved to Mississippi and graduated from Mooreville (MS) High School.
“Joe is a great player with a ton of talent,” Covich said. “He is very mature and has a lot of expectations both for himself and for this team.”
Konieczny will join a talented recruiting class consisting of local standout golfers from the MPSA state champions Lamar Raiders: Clay Bound, John Everett, and Jarrod Moulds, along south Mississippi golfing standouts, Blaine Henderson of George County and Taylor McCrary of Oak Grove.
The MCC golf team, which finished 3rd in the 2007 NJCAA national championship, will begin the 2007-08 season September 9-10 with a 54-hole tournament at Cypress Lakes Golf Club in Muscle Shoals, AL hosted by Northwest Shoals Community College.
