MCC coaches to attend international athletic showcase

(MERIDIAN) – Four Meridian Community College athletic coaches will attend the 2007 International Athletic Showcase July13-15 in Miami Shores, FL.

The athletic showcase hosted by I.D.E.A. (International Doorway to Education & Athletics) will feature 200 athletes in the sports of basketball, golf, soccer, and tennis.

The I.D.E.A. Showcase will bring together athletes from over 25 countries and will take place on the campus of Barry University, home of the 2007 NCAA Div. II men’s golf national champions.

MCC coaches, Hilary Allen (women’s basketball), Sean Covich (golf), Alex George (men’s/women’s soccer), and Wanda McPhail (men’s/women’s tennis) will travel to the showcase.

Since 1997, I.D.E.A. has provided placement for international students with academic and/or athletic potential into American higher education institutions. More than 70 colleges and universities participate in I.D.E.A. programs and currently institutions from 27 different U.S. States have I.D.E.A. students.
