From School Reports

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles rebounded from a recent four-game losing streak to secure a comeback victory over Lon Morris College at C.D. Smith Field on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Eagles trailed Lon Morris 1-0 late in the second half and scored a pair of goals to take the thrilling victory over the Lady Bearcats.

“I was very proud of the way our girls battled back in the second half,” said MCC head coach Alex George. “We played with a lot of toughness and found a way to win late in the game.”

Lon Morris took the lead over the Lady Eagles with 22:38 left in the first half to make the score 1-0. Maria Mendoza scored the lone goal in the match for the Lady Bearcats on an assist by Samantha Ramirez to give Lon Morris the one-goal advantage over MCC.

Meridian (4-4) scored both of its goals in the final 20 minutes of action to fly away with the one-goal victory. Kari Zendejas scored the first goal of the match with 16:22 remaining in the match to tie the game at 1-1. The Lady Eagles scored the go-ahead goal with just 2:30 left in the match to secure the dramatic victory over Lon Morris.
