Newman was a member of the Kosciusko varsity tennis team from his eighth grade season until graduation. In his sophomore season, Newman was named Most Improved Tennis Player at Kosciusko. During his junior campaign, Newman was awarded the MVP Tennis Award and the Golden Racket Award. “Justin is very steady and consistent on the tennis court,” McPhail said. “He is a wonderful student and a well rounded individual."

Sherman is currently ranked sixth in Mississippi among junior tennis players. Sherman was a member of the Junior Davis Cup and competed in the Southern Closed 18’s. Sherman played tennis for West Jones and was letterman for six years. Sherman captured the District Tennis Championship 2004-2005.
